ETHICAL SOURCING & ESG POLICY

1. THE ARTISAN-FIRST FISCAL POLICY

  • Artisan Economic Liberation: Yutiqaa’s primary mission is the economic liberation of the weaver. We acknowledge that heritage preservation is impossible without the financial stability of the creator.
  • Dual-Tier Engagement: We collaborate with both independent master weavers and structured artisan units. Regardless of unit size, Yutiqaa mandates total transparency in wage distribution to ensure every individual on the loom is fairly compensated.
  • The Living Wage Standard (2026 Benchmark): We move beyond “Fair Trade” minimums. Yutiqaa ensures artisans receive a “Living Wage”—a premium rate based on the Fair Wage Network (FWN) 2026 Benchmarks that accounts for family healthcare, nutrition, and rising artisanal raw material costs.
  • Debt-Cycle Prevention: To protect artisans from predatory lending, Yutiqaa provides a 50% upfront procurement deposit for raw materials. The remaining 50% is settled immediately upon quality clearance, bypassing traditional industry credit cycles.
  • The Artisan Welfare Fund: 1% of proceeds from every masterpiece is diverted into a dedicated Social Impact Fund.
  • Fund Utilization: This fund supports community-led initiatives: vision-correction camps for weavers, educational scholarships for their children, and loom-room infrastructure upgrades.

2. ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP & MATERIAL PURITY

  • Low-Impact Production: Luxury should not cost the earth; Yutiqaa’s production cycle is inherently low-impact.
  • Zero-Carbon Production: The manual handloom process requires zero electricity. By choosing Yutiqaa, the Patron supports a carbon-neutral manufacturing tradition sustainable for millennia.
  • Certified Dye Integrity: We exclusively use dyes and pigments that are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified and traditional natural pigments (Indigo, Lac, Myrobalan). This ensures the absence of hazardous chemicals from fiber to finished masterpiece.
  • Human-Ecological Safety: All textiles and metallic Zari threads are tested against the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, ensuring they are free from substances harmful to human health and skin.
  • Sustainable Supply Chain (Input Stream Management): We prioritize partners who are bluesign® SYSTEM PARTNERS. We manage our “Input Stream,” ensuring all chemicals entering our dye-houses meet the highest global environmental standards.
  • The Silk Protocol: We utilize traditional silk harvesting to maintain tensile strength and luster, but strictly prohibit “synthetic silk” or polyester blends. Sourcing focuses on the environmental health of mulberry and wild “Vanya” silk ecosystems.

3. TRACEABILITY & SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Global Compliance: Every Yutiqaa creation is compliant with international trade laws for artisanal goods.
  • Digital Product Passport (DPP): Every piece is linked to a digital record (accessible via QR code) documenting fiber origin, dye certification, artisan biography, water/energy usage, and facility identifiers.
  • Global Export Licenses:
    • India: Valid RCMC from the Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC).
    • Silk Mark & GI: Use of Silk Mark Organization of India (SMOI) and Geographical Indication (GI) tags for “Country of Origin” (COO) verification.
    • Customs Licenses: Adherence to HS Code 5007 and CITES certifications for wild silks (Vanya silks) to ensure non-endangered species compliance.
  • EU-India FTA Protocol (Jan 2026): To leverage the 0% preferential tariff for textiles, Yutiqaa strictly follows Rules of Origin (RoO) and provides a verified Statement on Origin with every shipment.

4. JURISDICTIONAL ESG ALIGNMENT (COUNTRY LAWS)

  • India: Compliance with the Companies Act, 2013 (Section 135) regarding CSR and the Handlooms (Reservation of Articles for Production) Act, 1985.
  • USA: Adherence to the UFLPA (Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act) and FTC Care Labeling Rules.
  • EU / UK: Compliance with the EU Green Claims Directive and UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. We utilize “Double Materiality” reporting, assessing our environmental impact and climate-related financial risks.
  • UAE: Alignment with the UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative for sustainable luxury imports.
  • Australia & SE Asia: Compliance with Australian Consumer Law (Greenwashing updates) and Singapore’s NEA environmental standards.

5. CIRCULARITY & PACKAGING ETHICS

  • Zero-Waste Design: Fabric off-cuts and remnants are repurposed into limited-edition accessories or protective pouches, ensuring no hand-woven silk is discarded.
  • Master Box Sustainability: All “Master Boxes” and collateral are made from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper.
  • Plastic-Free Certification: We strictly prohibit plastic or recycled cotton inserts to avoid micro-plastic contamination. All packaging is Plastic-Free Certified.

6. GOVERNANCE & QUALITY GUARDIANSHIP

  • Unannounced Audits: Yutiqaa curators conduct periodic, unannounced visits to weaver clusters to verify safe working conditions, including ergonomic loom settings and adequate lighting.

Purity Verification: We conduct random laboratory testing on Zari (metallic threads) and Silk fibers to ensure the supply chain remains free from adulteration or child labor.
